Mini-summit: Educating Urban Librarians

From the WSU Library and Information Science Program:

“The faculty of the Wayne State University Library and Information Science Program cordially invites you to an all-day “mini summit” we are hosting on Friday, September 5, 2008 at the McGregor Memorial Conference Center on the campus of Wayne State University in midtown Detroit. The topic of this gathering is “Educating Urban Librarians.” We welcome participants from all types of libraries across the region to help us define the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to deliver high-quality, cutting-edge library services in today’s multicultural, diverse communities. Please consider joining us if you are interested in sharing your expertise with us. We will then use the outcomes to craft a new concentration in urban librarianship that we hope to unfold beginning in fall 2009.

The all-day mini-summit will feature a keynote address by Mr. Martin Gomez, President of the Urban Libraries Council, continental breakfast and lunch, and breakout sessions. There is no cost to attend and free parking will be available.”

Space is limited, so please register here soon: https://events.wayne.edu/rsvp/urbanlibraries.
